Video Personal Statement (e-Business Management)
Video Personal Statement for MSc e-Business Management course
Please read the guidance below before recording your video.
Use this page to submit a video-based personal statement in support of your application to the e-Business Management MSc course. You should only submit a video statement if you have been specifically invited to do so by the WMG Admissions team. Unsolicited videos will be ignored.
Content Requirement
Use this opportunity to explain to the e-Business Management teaching team why you want to study our course. Think about the specialism you have chosen and tell us about your background and your interests that have led you to applying for a place on our courses. There is no fixed format of video, so feel free to use your imagination. If you are telling us about online activities you have been involved in, then please also include relevant links in the form below. It doesn't matter if the websites are not in English.
Remember the people watching and assessing your video are subject experts; they are the tutors who will be teaching you on the course, so you can use technical concepts and language.
Points to note
- We expect your video to be at least 2 minutes long. We suggest a maximum of 5 minutes, but we will not penalise you if you overrun.
- It must be you (i.e. the WMG applicant) visible in the video and it must be you speaking. You must not, under any circumstances, use a stand-in for video or audio.
- You must speak in English.
- You are not being judged on the quality of the video footage, so a smartphone camera or webcam are perfectly satisfactory. However, your whole face must be clearly visible at some point so we can be certain it is you speaking.
- Record your statement in a quiet, well-lit environment. Stairwells, restaurants or busy streets are not ideal.
- If you wish to edit your footage, that is fine; you do not have to do the whole statement in one go.
- Do not simply read pre-prepared material. This is absolutely vital. Instead, make notes, practice and deliver your statement in an engaging way as if you were presenting to an audience.
- Do not re-use any portions of your written statement of purpose that we have already rejected.
- Do not copy your material from online sources. Say things in your own words.
- If you wish, you can edit other material into your video (images or other footage), but this is not a requirement. If you decide to edit the footage, there must be a section that clearly shows it is you speaking.
- Please do not add loud background music to your video.
- Do not use any filters/effects that change your appearance.
- Finally, check your video to ensure you can be heard and the video is complete before uploading it.
We will not publish your video anywhere. It will be used for internal purposes only.
