WMG honorary professor delivers inaugural lecture

On Thursday 19 February, Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick, hosted the inaugural lecture of Dr Praveer SinhaLink opens in a new window, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Power.

The lecture, which took place in WMG’s 45th anniversary year, was held in the International Manufacturing Centre (IMC) on the University’s campus, with an audience of industry partners, staff, students and alumni.

Dr Sinha is an honorary professor at WMG, recognised for his leadership in advancing sustainable energy.

During the lecture, he spoke about the importance of powering a sustainable future in India and the role that Tata Power is playing in transforming the country’s energy landscape. Rapid urbanisation, industrial expansion, and a growing population make the challenge of delivering energy equity one that requires innovation and ambition. 

Dr Sinha’s lecture was followed by a lively panel discussion — hosted by WMG’s Director of Business Development, Dyrr Ardash — with questions from the audience. Sitting alongside Dr Sinha on the panel were:

“I was delighted to welcome Dr Sinha and Dr Das in their roles as honorary professors,” said Professor Kerry Kirwan, Dean of WMG.  

He added: “Their expertise, and Tata Power’s vision of empowering a billion lives through sustainable, affordable and innovative energy solutions, is inspirational. I look forward to our continued partnership, and in WMG using its deep academic expertise to support that vision.”
