Team UK joined competitors from Japan, the USA, and Europe, to compete in the world's first, in-person, under 30, female international CTF (Capture The Flag) competition.

The Kunoichi Cyber Games in November 2024 aimed to champion women in cyber security and inspire them to pursue careers in cyber. On the first day of the games the teams showcased their technical skills, and on day two they took part in forums on various topics based on the competition’s themes.

Participants acquired advanced security skills and had the opportunity to build a network with peers across countries with a shared interest in cyber security.

Although they didn’t win the competition, Team UK said: “Being part of Team UK has been an incredible journey for us. The best part has been growing together as a team, supporting one another, and forming lifelong connections. We’ve had the privilege of learning from inspiring women from around the world and sharing this experience with an amazing group of people. We’re so grateful for the memories we’ve created and for everyone who has been part of this journey with us.”

Sarah AktaaLink opens in a new window, Teaching Fellow in Cyber Security at WMG, said: "Congratulations to our student on being selected to represent Team UK. This is a proud moment and a testament to the talent and dedication of our students. Competitions like these provide invaluable opportunities to collaborate globally, tackle real-world challenges, and gain hands-on experience that prepare students for future success. As academics, this is why we remain committed to supporting and empowering our students—so they can shine on domestic and international stages like this!”
