Career assessments and tests

Introduction on what are career assessment test

There are many career assessment or aptitude tests available online some are paid and some are free.

In this module, we will use two free tests that I have tried and tested and thought they are good examples of the information that you get receive from it.

💡
These two tests do not have a complex registration process (if any) they both provide a clear report of your results. In the next module (Module 3) we will demonstrate how we can use the results from the tests for our online job search and application.

This test (below on the left) is a short simple test, which takes about 5 – 10 mins to complete (You need to click the button indicated in black below to start). The test provides pictures and visuals to understand what types of jobs would appeal to you; and then it provides you with a list of potential jobs you can apply for and with real life job vacancies.

2- CareerExplorer testLink opens in a new window

This test (below on right) is a bit longer and will take around 20 mins to complete (you need to click the button indicated in yellow below to start). This test is more detailed and asks several questions about the types of jobs you would like to do, about your skills and traits and about scenarios and how you would react. Based on that, it provides you with your strongest or key skills and the types of jobs your skills set would be suitable for. Then goes on to provide a brief explanation about what each of these identified jobs entails.
