Module 7- Jordan

Assessing the reliability of online job posts or job advertisements

Now that you have learnt how to protect yourself online, in this module we will discuss how to assess if the online job posts or job advertisements are true and reliable. We will do that through:

1- Ways to verify the reliability of a job post or vacancy (source and content)
2- Verifying your own online profile and account

One of the advantages of the internet is that you can find everything online, but that is also one of the problems of the internet. Because you can find everything online, it is difficult to assess and know if this information is trustworthy and reliable. This issue is specifically important when searching and applying for jobs online.

In this module, we will discuss some key characteristics of how to assess if the job post or the job advertisement you see online is reliable or not.

Always remember as a general rule for you to keep in mind when you are searching for jobs you see online and also could be applied for anything you see online :

“If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is”
