Let first start with understanding what is Generative AI:

Generative AI is a form of technology known as Artificial Intelligence (AI) that generates new content in different formats including images, text, graphs..etc, based on the information it already has and what you are telling it to do (also known as prompts discussed in section 9.3Link opens in a new window

Some well-known examples of Generative AI include:

- ChatGPTLink opens in a new window

- Microsoft CopilotLink opens in a new window

- ClaudeLink opens in a new window

- GeminiLink opens in a new window

- LumoLink opens in a new window

and there are many more.

Using AI has many advantages and it makes a lot of tasks much easier. For example, it makes online search, writing or creating images and summarising documents or articles much easier.

However, it does have several disadvantages and problems which are important for anyone using AI to be aware of as they risk security and privacy of the AI users.

💭

Think about it first: Do you know what are the problems and risks that you might face when using AI and how you can avoid them?

Tap each row to see the problems and risks of using AI.

1) AI can make up information

Risk

This is also known as AI Hallucinations. AI will make up or create information that is not real or true just to answer the question.

How to avoid

You need to review and double check all the information you get from AI before using it or sharing it with anyone.

2) AI can give wrong answers:

Risk

AI can sometimes give you wrong answers as it might not understand the question or the context that you are asking about.

How to avoid

Again, the solution here is to review and double check all the information generated from AI. In addition, try as much as possible to ask it questions that do not require a lot of context or background knowledge.

3) Your information is not safe and secure

Risk

AI models such as ChatGPI, Gemini, Claude..etc use the information that you provide to improve their performance, by storing the information and using it for training to become more effective over time.

How to avoid

It is extremely important not to share any private or confidential personal details with AI.
