Privacy and Securtiy Online

There are several risks that you need to consider when using the internet to search for and apply for jobs online. This module will discuss how you can detect the risks and what steps you can take to keep yourself safe online. The topic are:

1- Your online accounts and passwords
2- Two-step authentication
3- Spam and phishing emails
4- VPN- Virtual Private Network
5- Safe Search

As you all are well aware as much as there are advantages of using the internet and searching and applying for jobs online, it also comes with a number of risks. These risks can be avoided and mitigated with a number of precautionary steps that you can take. This module will discuss these steps.

You can think of your online privacy and security this way:

When you in your home, you need to lock the door and only people with the key can open it. You need also to make sure you know who you are interacting with and letting in and that you do not leave your ID or passport lying around when you have guest in the house.

Making sure you know who you are interacting with and opening the door to- Is recognition of spam email also known as phishing emails.

Do not leave your ID and password lying around- is knowledge of online information sharing.
