Safe Search

A way you could decrease access to inappropriate content while browsing the internet

I am aware that many of you are worried about the impact of the internet and the online content on your children. Not only for your children, but even for you sometimes you would be searching for something online and something inappropriate would come up instead of what you were searching for.

I am happy to let you know that there is a way you could decrease or even prevent access to inappropriate content while browsing the internet.

This is done through an option that you can turn on and off on your device (computer/laptop or mobile phone) called Safe Search.

⚠️
Safe Search turned off

If your Safe Search is turned off, then all content you search for online will appear even if was inappropriate or explicit.

When you turn on Safe Search you have two options to choose from:

1- Filter: This allows you to filter out all explicit or inappropriate content which is in the form of images (pictures), texts and links.

2- Blur: This only allows you to blur images (pictures) that are explicit or inappropriate. This is done by blurring, that means making the picture unclear so you cannot see it. But any explicit or inappropriate links and text can show with this option.

You can also keep changing between the Safe Search options as you see appropriate.

Following is step by step guide on how to turn on Safe Search on your computer/laptop and your mobile phone (using an android phone).

Step 1: Access your Google account (in yellow below) from your google browser on your laptop/computer and from the google app on your mobile phone.
