You need to always think about these when using AI for help in your online job search and application.
Now that we discussed the issues or problems of using AI generally, we will dive into the advantages, benefits and problems of using AI for online job search and application, specifically.

Although there are many advantages of using AI for your online job search and application, the disadvantage and issues caused by relying on AI for your online job search and application are much more than the benefits.
⚠️Problem with using AI- Risk of the job sources being unreliable or not trustworthy:
The combination of the AI making up information that is not true and the AI sometimes giving the wrong answer, might result in it providing you with sources for jobs that are not trusted nor reliable.
✅Benefit of using AI- A quick way to find sources for job portals/website or jobs online:
It can be a quicker way to provide you with a list of websites or sources to search for jobs online, in the field you want.
⚠️Problem with using AI- Risk of rejection because your application sounded too automated:
If you only rely on the information provided to you by the AI related to the job description, you might risk your CV and Cover letter sounding too automated (i.e. written by a computer) and not human. If your CV and Cover letter do not sound human, the recruiters and employers will reject your application.
✅Benefit of using AI- Might make the job application process faster:
It can be a quicker way to analyse the requirement of the job vacancy you are interested in. For example, it can summarise and analyse the job description, help identify and extract the keywords and phrases that you need to include in your CV and Cover letter.
⚠️Problem with using AI- Limited customisation of the job application:
Relying on AI only will limit the ability and the degree in which you can customise your job application based on the job description you are interested in. Also, as mentioned in Module 3 and detailed in Module 8, customising your CV and Cover letter (i.e. your job application) is extremely important for successful job applications.
✅Benefit of using AI- Language support particularly translation:
Provides a quick way to translate a job description of a job post. This is specifically useful if you are searching for or looking at job descriptions that are written in a language which is not your first language.
⚠️Problem with using AI- AI might produce untrue or made up/fictional information:
As mentioned earlier, one of the main issues with AI is that it might produce wrong information or might make up information that is not real. Adding this information to your CV and Cover letter, without checking or verifying it will put you in a very difficult situation with the employer, as this might be perceived as you lying on your CV and as a result they might decide not to hire you.
⚠️Problem with using AI- AI might not understand the context or the background information:
AI may generate information that is incorrect for the specific context of the job or unrelated to your actual experiences, which will not represent your qualifications properly. This may also prevent you from explaining unique personal circumstances (circumstances that are specific to you)—such as skills gained from being a homemaker or not completing university—that could strengthen your application.
⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you fully review everything the AI gives you to make sure it is correct and true to you and what you are looking for, and that you do not provide unnecessary or personal information to the AI that you would not publicly post online on your social media websites.
