How we contact you
It is essential that you familiarise yourself as soon as possible with the main ways in which the University will communicate with you.
Tabula
The University has developed a secure web-based portal to support teaching and learning on the undergraduate programmes, called Tabula. This will allow you to register for seminars, submit assessments and receive feedback, contact your Personal Tutor and check your attendance record.
Moodle
All modules have information including reading lists, schedules and assessment methods on Moodle. You should join the Moodle page of all modules you are studying and use it as the main source of information for your studies.
The University, the Philosophy Office, and your lecturers will use your University email address ending @warwick.ac.uk to communicate with you, so it is important that you become familiar with its use and check your email every day.
You can set up your Warwick account to forward email automatically to a private email address if you prefer. Details of how to do this can be found at: www.warwick.ac.uk/its. But be careful about using your private email account to reply to messages from us. The University network is heavily protected against intruders, and messages from private email accounts are occasionally blocked by spam and virus filters. We recommend that you make full use of your Warwick email account.
Please note that, whilst members of the department are will normally respond to emails as soon as possible, they may often not be able to do so immediately, and you should not expect them to be available out of working hours or at weekends. Please also be aware that there might be a longer delay in responding to non-urgent enquiries during busy periods (such as during the exams in Term 3) and out of term time.
If you need to contact the department in an emergency please contact the the UG Programmes Team via phone (024 765 73312) and/or email and they will be able to direct your query to someone who can help.
Philosophy Website
The Philosophy Website is updated regularly with news and events relating to your programme. It contains this handbook and other key information about your programme.
Departmental Websites
If you are doing a joint degree or are taking any other module(s) from another Department we strongly recommend you familiarise yourself with that Department's website. Other Departments may have different policies around essay submission and may have their own bespoke marking criteria so you should ensure you are aware of these.
Keeping your details updated
You will have enrolled for your course online and submitted various personal and contact details. These include the contact details we would use in the event that we needed to contact you urgently. Therefore if your contact details change, especially your mobile number, it is vital that you inform the university. Through enrolling you also confirm that you have read the University's policy on the use of your personal data.
