IB World Student Conference UK 2013

IBO4 to 9 August 2013
University of Warwick, Coventry, UK

The University of Warwick will host the first UK International Baccalaureate World Student Conference in August 2013.

IB World Student Conferences (IBWSC) bring together IB Diploma students from around the world to explore and experience what it means to be globally engaged, and to inspire responsible action for making a better and more peaceful world. An IBWSC offers opportunities to develop student leadership, professional understanding and positive relationships among IB students, world schools and universities. IB World Student Conferences celebrate a spirit of open-minded inquiry into significant global challenges, extending the IB’s mission and developing the attributes of the IB learner profile.

The Warwick world student conference is entitled Utopian Visions: employing the Arts for Social and Political Change. This will be an exciting and stimulating opportunity for students to explore how music, dance, theatre, film, the visual arts, performance and media can be used to commentate on, understand and challenge society and politics. Students will also be able to explore how learning and knowledge can be accessed and improved through creative activity.

Warwick has substantial experience in delivering high level conferences of this nature, offering curricula expertise, excellent event facilities and close links with cultural venues and transport hubs in the region. The University currently has over 1000 IB graduates from over 70 countries enrolled on undergraduate programmes and welcomes applications from students undertaking the IB, recognising that these students are often well prepared for higher education through experiences and skills gained at events such as the IBWSC.

The University welcomes the opportunity to work closely with its partner school in this project - the RSA Academy in Tipton - and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to deliver a stimulating and rewarding event for IB students in summer 2013.
