The Queen Presents Royal Award to WMG

The Queen has formally presented the University of Warwick and WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) with a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education at a special ceremony and reception at Buckingham Palace on Friday 19th February.

Chinese Ambassador visits WMG

The Chinese Ambassador has seen for herself how leading-edge manufacturing in Coventry and Warwickshire is beating the economic downturn. Madam Fu Ying visited Oleo International and WMG (formerly Warwick Manufacturing Group) on Friday (27 November) as part of a nationwide tour organised by UK Trade & Investment to see examples of British manufacturing excellence.

Mayor of Indianapolis visits WMG

The Mayor of Indianapolis recently visited Warwickshire to see first-hand the manufacturing and engineering excellence here in the county.

Gregory Ballard, Republican Mayor of Indianapolis, USA, came to the UK as a guest of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA). The MIA asked Warwickshire Investment Partnership, part of Warwickshire County Council, to arrange tours of select organisations in the county, these were Aston Martin and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG).

ideasforlife.tv now launched

ideasforlife.tv, an online video channel, has launched today (Tuesday 15th January). The channel will showcase innovative science-based business and research taking place across the Birmingham Science City region, with the aim of promoting and de-mystifying science and enterprise for a wide audience.

Eco One Car in the Community

An environmentally friendly eco-car made from vegetables and designed by students at the University of Warwick has been on tour around Coventry and Warwickshire.

Its first public outing was at the Eden Project in April, but since then Eco One has been on the road meeting school pupils, business leaders and Coventry Ambassadors. Its next stop is a meeting of industry leaders and academics in Birmingham and it will then enjoy a day out at the Royal Show at Stoneleigh in July.


Engineers Find Stressful Way To Produce Artwork

Civil Engineers Dr Wanda Lewis and John Brew have found a stressful way of producing original artwork. The images are known as the ‘Stress at Work’ range due to the way they are produced. They are derived from engineering calculations and are colour-coded plots of stresses and strains.
