Boston University Partnership

Senior colleagues from Boston University are visiting the Warwick campus this week as part of our developing partnership with the institution. This is the latest in a series of visits to take place between Warwick and BU since the partnership was formally announced in Spring 2008.

Andrei Ruckenstein, Vice President (Research) and Joseph Mercurio (Executive Vice President) will be hosted by the Registrar’s Office and will meet a range of the Warwick senior management team in order to gain a greater insight into the administrative structures in place at Warwick.

Professor Ruckenstein will also be participating in a joint BU-Warwick workshop in Complexity Science which will be taking place on campus. The workshop, organised by Yasmin Merali from Warwick Business School and part-funded by the Institute for Advanced Study and the International Office, includes a further six academic participants from BU specializing in health policy research, finance and economics and management information.

Kevin Smith, Professor of Chemistry at BU, will also be visiting the campus to explore potential areas for further research collaboration within the Sciences. In April this year a delegation from Warwick visited BU to explore areas for research collaboration in Materials Science and to participate in a series of academic workshops in the area of Security.

A drinks reception will be held in the Warwick Arts Centre on the evening of 27 July to welcome the BU delegation.

Collaborations and partnership agreements with universities across the world is an important part of Warwick’s international mission and by sharing knowledge and resources with universities and academic communities, Warwick aims to strengthen its profile and position.
