Warwick representative for the West Midlands Military Education Committee

Originally Published 24 March 2003

The University is looking for a member of academic or administrative staff to act as its representative on the West Midlands Military Education Committee.

If you have experience of, or a personal interest in military matters and you are available to attend the next meeting of the Committee at 4pm on 21 May in Birmingham then please do consider putting yourself forward.

The West Midlands Military Education Committee involves all universities in the West Midlands and is primarily concerned with managing the interface between higher education, the Ministry of Defence and the three Officer Cadet Training Units in the region (the Officer Training Corps, Air Squadron and Royal Naval Unit).

The Committee therefore serves as a liaison forum and seeks to address generic issues such as facilitating student recruitment and ensuring time spent on military activities is not to the detriment of students' studies.

Meetings of the Committee are annual, and attendance at these events is the only formal commitment which the Warwick representative is expected to take on. However, there are other optional events organised by the various training corps to which Committee members are invited during the year.

If you are eligible (ie a member of academic or administrative staff) and wish to be considered, please email Paul Greatrix - resbe@gwmail.warwick.ac.uk by Friday 25 April 2003.
