The early hours of Christmas morning will prove busy for RaW, the award-winning student radio station at Warwick University, as they present a special four-hour show on BBC Radio 1.
In November RaW managed to secure the top prize as the Best Student Radio Station 2003 at the Radio 1 and the Radio Academy's Student Radio Awards, as well as 2 further golds, a silver and a bronze... As a result RaW have been given the opportunity to produce a four hour show starting at midnight and running through to 4am on Thursday December 25th 2003. The show will place specially selected music from RaW's Top 100 tracks of the year alongside sketch comedy and entertainment features to ease listeners into Christmas morning.
"That Xmas Morning Thing" is presented by Best Male Presenter winner Chris Carter, and fellow RaW presenter Dom Moret. Producer Talia Kraines commented "The show will showcase RaW's award winning talent to a much wider audience thanks to this wonderful opportunity to broadcast on a national radio station."
RaW have spent the past few weeks working alongside Radio 1 Operations Manager Miles Eames to plan the show and take the presenters and producers through the entire Radio 1 experience from selecting the music to tidying the
studio after use! In addition to producing this mammouth broadcast for Radio 1, RaW continues to broadcast 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 1251 AM to the campus and across the internet at http://www.radio.warwick.ac.uk
