The Students’ Union has saved international students more than £20,000 in the past 3 weeks .Advice and Welfare Services (AWS) at the Students’ Union is taking part in a Foreign and Commonwealth Office scheme to put right mistakes made by entry clearance officers at British embassies abroad.

Fran Miles, Welfare and Equal Opportunities Officer, explains:

“International Students are sometimes given the wrong period of leave in the UK when they apply for their visas. This can be a costly mistake for our international members as they would normally have to pay the Home Office £155 for any extension of their stay in the UK."

"The AWS scheme gets the mistake put right for free – we have seen over 130 students already, that is more than £20,000 we have saved them.”

AWS gives practical advice to students on all sorts of matters including, housing, money, consumer, legal, and education. It is situated in Union North and can be contacted on extension 72824 or email advice@sunion.warwick.ac.uk
