Warwick Conferences’ has donated several thousand pounds to two local colleges. This is an annual event - each year a client party is held, which each school is invited to and at which donations are raised.

This year the money given to Exhall Grange and Science College will be used to purchase a specialist wheelchair and a travel hoist that will enable wheel-chair using students to participate in all school trips. The funds will also go towards securing a Dynavox, which will aid pupils suffering from cerebral palsy in communication. Exhall Grange is one of only 11 schools in the country designed specifically for the education of blind and visually impaired children. They have 200 students of all abilities aged 2 to 29 years old.

The money raised for Westwood School and Community College is paying for a bike shelter to encourage students to ride to school, an Outdoor Classroom and a Peace Garden. Westwood School is a small Specialist Technology College with a third of their pupils on the specialist education register, requiring specialist training and staffing.

Warwick Conferences is regarded as having the widest choice of meeting space available in the UK, with 300 meeting rooms, three dedicated year-round Training and Conference Centres and award winning food.

Roger Whittall, Head Teacher of Westwood School said: The School is constantly improving its learning environment and as a ‘sample school’ under ‘Building Schools for the Future’ will be totally refurbished and partially rebuilt in 2012. However schemes, like those above, are often not regarded as ‘core businesses for schools. We believe such facilities are essential to 21^st Century education and without the support of organisations like the University of Warwick we, and the children, would be much poorer.
