Laboratories

The Behavioural Science GRP is lucky to be affiliated with a number of departments each with dedicated research laboratories. The larger labs are designed for administering (computer-based) psychological and economic experiments en masse, whilst more specialist facilities are available for studies involving eye-tracking, EEG or other specialist equipment.

The 3.005 Laboratory consists of 51 networked computers, screened off from each other, so that participants can run experiments independently; or can take part in two or multi-player games. Participants can be recruited from Warwick's SONA System. The lab also conducts large numbers of on-line experimental studies. The lab is run by a lab manager and technical support is provided by the Behavioural Science Group's IT developer.

The laboratory is located in the WBS Scarman road building - the large white building across Gibbet Hill Road from the majority of campus. Enter WBS Scarman Road from the main entrance and proceed to the stairwell at the center of the building. The WBS Behavioural Science lab is located on the third floor, turning left at the top of the stairs. Proceed through the double doors ahead and follow the corridor round to the right. The lab is on the right. There is a lift for disabled access and the laboratory includes two accessible cubicles that can accommodate wheelchair users.

Contact the lab manager John Taylor (john dot taylor at wbs dot ac dot uk) for general information and bookings, or the IT Developer, Ty Hayes (tyson dot hayes at wbs dot ac dot uk), for technical enquiries.

The Psychology department has a number of labs and treatment rooms that can be used by Behavioural Science researchers. The main Behavioural Science laboratory in the Psychology Department is H0.91, consisting of 25 (24 participants + 1 researcher) networked computers, screened off from each other, so that participants can run experiments independently; or can take part in two or multi-player games. Participants can be recruited from Warwick's SONA System. Contact Andrew Barnacle (A dot C dot Barnacle at warwick dot ac dot uk) for room access.

IACS (H1.50) has 6 bookable cubicles, the Eye Movement Lab (booked separately) and an E-prime programming room in the corner. Each cubicle contains one seat, table and a windows computer with enough space for one participant. The E-prime room in the corner is a drop in area for the programming of E-Prime experiments and is not to be used for testing participants.

Note that the bookable cubicles are reserved for Psychology Undergraduate Students only during term 2.

The Eye Movement Laboratory has one PC to present stimuli and another to record the eye-movement. This setup allows you to run one participant at one time. Contact Linda Wilson (l dot c dot wilson at warwick dot ac dot uk) for more details if you would like to use this space.

The Sound Proof Laboratory in H0.90 comprises 4 Cubicles. All the booths have a fanless Linux box and a Windows PC. Cubicles 3 and 4 are sound proofed. Contact Andrew Barnacle (A dot C dot Barnacle at warwick dot ac dot uk) for room access.

The laboratory is located in the Psychology Department - white building on the end of Humanities. It is located across the road from the Sports Centre Car Park. Entrance is through the glass doors facing the University Road.
