Certificate of Status Letter

A certificate of status letter can be requested to prove your current enrolment status at the University of Warwick and is often required in order to open bank accounts, for council tax exemption and for some immigration purposes, as well as numerous other reasons.

The certificate of status letter will confirm your name, mode of attendance, your course title, the start and end dates of your course and your address(es). We regret that we are unable to include any information which is not stored on your student record nor to exclude any of the aforementioned information.

In most cases, you will be able to request a digital Certificate of Status via Student Records Online. Sign in and click on the 'My Data' tab at the top, then 'Request Student Status and Bank Letter'. Ensure you read the instructions provided carefully to ensure a digital Certificate of Status is suitable for your needs.

For more information on how to request a status letter specific to your needs, please click on the relevant section below to expand the guidance.

If you live at an address with a Coventry (CV) postcode you should not require a Certificate of Status for Council Tax purposes.

The University is not able to confirm if you are (or are not) exempt from paying Council Tax. Your certificate of status will confirm your current status at the University and it will be up to the relevant local council to determine whether you are, therefore, eligible for a disregard.

You should to go the Student Information Centre, Senate House to request your letter in person. They will need to see proof that you have booked travel before issuing your letter. They will need to see evidence of your travel start and end dates, your date of returning to the University and your reason for travel.

Once you have received a 'conferral of award' email from the Student Records team, you should then go to the Student Information Centre, Senate House to request your letter in person. If you are unable to go in person, please refer to the final section on this page.

You should request an equivalent letter from University College Birmingham directly. Although your course may be validated by Warwick, we only hold the minimum amount of data necessary for the purpose of issuing your award.

All higher education verification requests for UCB courses from employers, reference agencies, etc. should also be redirected to University College Birmingham

Thank you for your time.
