Academic Partnerships and Collaborative Provision Policy

As a leading international institution with a strong international reputation, Warwick encourages academic partnerships where there is a demonstrable alignment to the university strategy. This policy sets out the framework through which the University manages academic partnership and collaborative provision across all academic levels and the awards it delivers in partnership with other organisations.

Its purpose is to ensure that robust arrangements are in place to underpin the conception, development, operation and review of partnership activities, and to affirm that all collaborative provision students studying for University of Warwick award benefit from an excellent student experience, regardless of their academic level, geographical location or mode of delivery. There will be a clear rationale for any proposed collaborative provision that will extend the range of learning opportunities available to students.

Academic partner institutions will normally be of a similar status to the University of Warwick, but collaborations may be considered with other organisations where there is a strong academic and business case for doing so. For example strength in particular academic disciplines, expertise in relevant practical or professional skill or a desire to build capacity. Partnerships will also be created in response to government policy. For example degree apprenticeships and School Direct.

Collaborative proposals will originate within a particular academic department or at institutional level. In all cases, appropriate academic expertise should be available within the University (and/or the partner organisation where relevant) to support the academic partnership and a lead academic department will recommend the proposal as an enhancement to its academic development. Consideration will also be given as to whether the collaboration might lead students on to further University courses, or whether it strengthens the University’s policy on continuing and post-experience education.
