UPDATE (30/07/2024): Road Closures & Traffic Management for the Sustrans Cycle Scheme - Lynchgate Road & Shultern Lane

UPDATE (30/07/2024): Between Monday 12th February - 2nd August 2024, sections of Lynchgate Road & Shultern Lane will be closed to support a segregated bi-directional cycle route for the Sustrans Cycle Scheme and improve pedestrian crossings. The project will be delivered in 2 phases:

  • Phase 1: Closing the left turn in/right turn out from the junction of Shultern Lane and direct any traffic requiring access to Aldi around the circulatory route. Access to Tesco will not be affected and diversion signs will be posted.
  • Phase 2: Lynchgate Road will be closed at the entrance to Tescos and traffic will be directed around the circulatory route. Diversion signs will be posted.

Partial closure of A429 Kenilworth Road: Monday 16th September - Friday 25th October

From Monday 16th September - Friday 25th October, Kenilworth Road between the Gibbet Hill Road roundabout and Crackley Lane junction will be closed to support the installation of a new overbridge. Phase one: Monday 16 September – Friday 27 September

  • Stop-go boards will be operated as required during off-peak hours between 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday only.
  • Inspections and surveys of drainage and utilities and carrying out verge maintenance.

Phase two: Monday 30 September – Friday 25 October

  • A 24/7 full road closure will be in place for four weeks.
  • Undertaking the relocation of multiple sets of utilities to the new road alignment and completing earthworks to build the embankments.
  • Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained throughout.

Phase three: Early 2025

  • In early 2025, an additional full road closure will be in place to complete the permanent road realignment, including construction of the highway itself, highway drainage, road surfacing, curbing installation of traffic signs and street furniture.

Temporary closure of Leighfield Road: Monday 8th July

On Monday 8th July, Leighfield Road will be closed for approximately 15 minutes around 10:30am to safely support the procession for Flame of FriendshipLink opens in a new window. During this period there will be no access to the Cryfield Village car park. Alternative access to other locations may be available through Scarman Road.

Partial closure of Cryfield Village Car Park: Monday 8th July

On Monday 8th July, the bottom end of the Cryfield Village car park will be closed to support local school arrivals for Flame of FriendshipLink opens in a new window. Alternative parking can be found in the remainder of the Cryfield Village car park.

Permanent closure of Car Parks 9 & 10 over the summer
