Campus developments starting at Easter
During the Easter vacation there will be a number of campus developments that will affect car parking, pedestrians and cyclists.
Please read on for information on key changes and alternative provisions being put in place, and see the maps on the right-hand side for illustrated details.
Parking
Alternative entrance to University Road
A section of University Road outside the Arts Centre will be closed to all vehicles from Monday 18 March to enable work on the Arts Centre extension. All vehicles driving onto Central Campus will enter and exit via Scarman roundabout.
Multi-Storey car park near Warwick Arts Centre (Car park 7)
Car Park 7 will close permanently from Sunday 24 March to support the construction of the new Faculty of Arts building. Please read on for alternative arrangements for users of blue badge bays, cycle parking, motorcycle parking, electric vehicle charging and car share bays.
Central Campus multi-storey car parks
During the Easter vacation, visitor parking reservations will be extended in car park 15 (behind the Lord Bhattacharrya Building) and if required to car park 8 (multi-storey car park opposite the Humanities building) too, to include reservations for conference delegates arriving between 8am and 3pm. This will mean reduced availability of parking in these facilities for permit holders and Pay and Display users. Car share bays, electric vehicle charging bays, motorcycle parking and cycle storage in car parks 15 and 8 will not be affected by conference delegate reservation.
Alternative parking locations
- Staff permit holders may use Lynchgate and Kirby Corner car parks
- Pay and Display users and PGR permit holders may use Westwood if Central Campus is full
- Pre-arranged visitors to University departments can have parking reserved on Central Campus if they’re arriving between 8am and 2pm.
In addition to these locations, a temporary car park will open at Cryfield Village in the summer vacation for permit holder, Pay and Display and Flexipay scratchcard users. It will also have blue badge bays, electric vehicle charging bays and car share bays.
Blue badge parking
The area noted on the map behind Senate House will be made available to blue badge permit holders parking – accessible from University Road via Scarman roundabout and turning right after the Psychology building.
See our car parking pages for more information on enhanced provision under development at car parks across campus for:
New facilities are currently being installed in Kirby Corner car park for staff permit holder use and further details will be shared in the coming weeks.

- Motorbike parking
An area in the lower ground floor of car park 8 will be remodelled to provide dedicated motorcycle parking with new anchor points.

Buses
The majority of bus routes will not be affected, but the pedestrian area of bus interchange will be reduced in size to accommodate the development of the Arts Centre. This area will be closely monitored to ensure the lowest impact to users.
Shuttlebuses
Shuttlebus users will continue to be able to access services at the University Road stop (opposite Humanities) and the bus with take an alternative route from there to the bus interchange.
Cycle shelter
The cycle shelter in the bus interchange will be closed. Enhanced alternative cycle storage facilities will be available across campus.
