Welcome news for researchers as the Research Development Fund is reinstated for 2021/22

The University’s Research Development Fund (RDF), which was temporarily withdrawn during 2020-2021, has now been reinstated for the 2021/22 academic year.

This will provide pump-priming support for new research initiatives and/or future external funding applications, with approved projects commencing from 01 August 2021.

The fund will consist of three faculty-level schemes, for bids of up to £10,000, and a cross-faculty ‘strategic’ programme for larger awards of up to £25,000.

Professor Pam Thomas PVC (Research) commented:

"The Research Development Fund drives future success in research and reinstating it from 2021 is a very positive step forward for researchers from across the faculties."

Bids into the strategic programme will be invited via an open call later in March 2021.
