Media skills for public engagement (A9R)

Researchers today need to be able to reach a wide audience in their research. This engaging half-day workshop will provide an introduction to and overview of how academics can best communicate with and through the media.

By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • Discussed why it is important to communicate with the media: what’s in it for you, for them, and for the University
  • Learned how news is created and gathered
  • Developed an enhanced understanding of how to conduct an interview with a journalist
  • Practised giving an interview and received feedback from fellow participants

Who is it for? All postgraduate research students. To register for this workshop, you must be enrolled on (or recently graduated from) one of the following degrees: PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, EngD, EdD, professional doctorate.
