Academic Skills Day: Reading, writing, time management

This new academic skills day for research students brings together 3 key themes of RSSP workshops into 1 day. We’ll cover key issues in academic writing, followed by focused sessions on efficient reading techniques and how to manage your time.

By the end of the day you will have:

• Explored key issues in academic writing (notably style, structure, critical voice) and how to enhance your own thesis writing practice
• Learned and practised practical techniques to help you read more efficiently, to cover more material in less time
• Assessed how you spend your time, how you prefer to work and what steals your time
• Identified strategies to help plan, prioritise and organise your work more effectively

How long is it?

9.45am-4.45pm (can choose to attend all or part of the day)

Who is it for?

All postgraduate research students registered one of the following degrees: PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, EngD, EdD, professional doctorate. Especially suitable for part-time researchers.
