Warwick Award Pathways

Pathways are curated groups of Warwick Award activities. These activities guide you, our current students at Warwick, through a specific area of skills development, helping you meet your future employment needs and stand out in the labour market. All pathways are open to students from any discipline.

Moving through our open access pathways, you will develop 12 Core Employability Skills – skills that employers value and seek in graduate candidates – and gain Core Skills Points, which contribute to completing the Warwick Award. You can also earn digital badges, which can be shared with employers, to demonstrate your development of key skills. Conclude with a reflective piece to recognise your growth, identify next steps and confidently communicate your strengths to help you stand out to future employers.

AI Pathways

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are rapidly evolving and becoming increasingly integrated in how we learn, work and in our everyday lives. The AI Fundamentals pathways are designed to help you identify and develop your digital skills, so you can navigate the changing AI landscape critically, confidently and creatively.

The learning resources have been developed in collaboration with students to explore the opportunities, challenges and impacts of AI. These have been mapped to the Jisc* digital capabilities tool to help you assess your AI digital skills and identify ways to apply AI responsibly and effectively.

You will be able to apply and practise your AI digital skills in the pathway through exercises, applied case studies, simulations and work experience.

There are two streams of the AI Fundamental pathway depending on your existing level of experience with AI and the anticipated use of AI in your future career. Choose the pathway most suited to your current or future planned use of AI – you do not need to complete both:

AI Fundamentals (General)

Choose this pathway if you would like a better understanding of AI and its implications, to explore the ethical and legal challenges relating to AI, and to develop the digital skills you will need to use AI effectively, critically and responsibly.

If you have no or limited existing experience with AI and related technical skills, but are interested in finding out more about it, how it is currently being applied, and the wider impacts of AI for education, society and the future of work, then this pathway is for you.

AI Fundamentals (Technical)

Choose this pathway if you are familiar with AI tools, or technical experience of digital technologies, and are interested in developing a more in-depth and technical understanding of how AI models are being integrated into education and ways of working.

If you have some existing experience with AI and relevant technical skills, and anticipate that AI will be a fundamental part of your life or future career, then this pathway is for you.
