Thank you for sharing your thoughts on AI

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Term 3 Student Feedback Survey and in our Academic Skills workshops. Your feedback has already made a difference, helping shape university discussions on how AI is used in learning, inspiring clearer guidance on academic integrity, and the launch of our new student resources on using AI.

Together, we’re building a community that uses AI wisely, ethically, and with confidence. Find out more below!

Student Feedback Survey: Acting on your feedback

In the Term 3 Student Feedback Survey 2025, we asked you about your attitudes, usage, and knowledge of AI guidance and related support within a University environment. Here are some of the findings:

  • 73% of respondents have used AI tools in some capacity, increasing from numbers reported in Term 1. Respondents were most likely to use AI to enhance their understanding of difficult topics (67%), in their everyday life (60%), or in their academic life (59%).
  • Of those who use AI tools, ChatGPT is overwhelmingly the most popular tool (89%).
  • 76% of AI users define their AI skills as either Basic (46%) or Intermediate (30%).
  • While 61% of respondents feel confident that they understand the University’s guidelines around the use of AI, 62% also think that to better support students, there should be clearer guidelines around the acceptable usage of AI in academic work.
  • Awareness around where to report inappropriate AI usage and what initiatives the University offers regarding how to prevent AI-related issues is low (less than half of respondents are aware of where to report or what initiatives are available across all contexts).

We presented the Student Feedback Survey data to staff (and some students) across the University in a Lunch and Learn session, and shared the data with staff, which has since helped inform:

Academic Essentials: Shaped by students, for students

In May 2025, we invited students from across all courses and levels of study to take part in consultation workshops - both online and in-person in the Library.

During these sessions, students shared valuable insights about the kind of information and guidance that would help them to feel confident in navigating their academic journey, from day one through to graduation.

Topics that were suggested included: teaching styles at Warwick, reading lists, time management, inbox organisation, accessing staff support, and more.

In response to this feedback, a team of students and staff collaborated to create Academic Essentials - a brand-new resource on MyWarwick that launched at the start of the academic year. This guide will constantly evolve throughout this academic year.

One key area that students highlighted was the need for clearer guidance on academic integrity, including referencing, avoiding plagiarism, responsible AI use, and understanding available support.

Therefore, we have updated our Academic Integrity page to guide these topics and provide useful FAQs.

Over the next couple of weeks, there will be more guidance added relating to AI use and academic integrity, frequently asked questions, avoiding academic misconduct, and the support available.

All students are encouraged to use the Academic Essentials resource to stay informed and confident when completing academic work!
