2018 Women’s Cycle Tour comes through campus: 15 June

The 2018 Women’s Cycle Tour will pass through our campus on Friday 15 June. There will be some delays for cars and public transport accessing campus around that time as well as road closures in Leamington, so please bear this in mind if you are travelling to campus for exams that day. See below for some more information.

The cyclists will approach campus from Westwood Heath Road, travel up Gibbet Hill Road and head out on to Kenilworth Road in the morning. This could affect traffic getting onto campus that day.

This year, the route will start in Atherstone and end in Leamington Spa. We expect the race to come through campus between 10.30 - 11.00am on Friday 15 June. Warwickshire County Council have provided estimated route timings on their website.

See the full route and find out more on the Women’s Tour website.

The Campus Shuttlebus A and B services will be suspended on the day - the A service from 10:30am and the B service from 10:25am. Both will recommence at 10:50am, subject to traffic conditions.

Information for students

Exams

The race will come through campus when many people are either taking or involved with exams. The University is working closely with Warwickshire County Council and the race organisers to minimise the disturbance to exams and updating departments on timings and potential disruption.

Campus

With the race coming through campus between 10:30am and 11:00 am, there will be some delays for cars and public transport leaving campus at that time as the rolling road block will prevent traffic coming onto Gibbet Hill Road. Traffic will not be prevented from entering campus.

Local Area

Update: The Parade in Leamington will not be closed this year as it has been previously.

If travelling to campus, please make sure you set off earlier than you would usually – there will be delays to all travel, including bus services while the race is in progress as it will affect roads all over the local region.

Please do bear this in mind when you are planning your journey to and from campus on 15 June and allow plenty of time to get to campus.

There is also likely to be more disruption to roads around the Leamington area where the race will end and we will update information on this as it is confirmed.

More information on road closures will be posted to the Warwickshire County Council website.
