Book-a-desk pilot: project outcomes

Many thanks to all students who took part in the Book-a-Desk project last academic year.

The book-a-desk project was developed to make it easier to find study space in the library. Over 500 of you signed up to the trial, shared your experiences of booking a desk and made suggestions to streamline the process.

It became apparent that a tech-based application was an overly complex solution to finding study space, with subscribers noting that it was easier to turn up and find a seat, and that asking someone to vacate the seat they had booked presented problems of its own. Additional space was created in unused teaching space during the exam period, which proved much more useful for those wishing to locate study space.
