Change in alert level in Coventry

Following the update on the move for Coventry from Tier 1 'Medium’ to Tier 2 ‘High’ in the UK Government Covid-19 alert level system at midnight on Friday 23 October, here is more information on what this means at the University.

The Coventry tier change doesn’t mean any significant changes to teaching or operations. Our blended learning model continues with the safety measures we already have in place. Our campus experience – Rootes Grocery Store, cafes, Basecamp, Sports facilities will remain open for people socialising in household groups, Again, these remain Covid-secure.

Students living on campus are already subject to the restriction on only being able to socialise in household groups indoors- households mean flat/kitchen groups, and the rule of six still applies outside.

With the new restrictions, students living off-campus in Coventry will also now be required to socialise only with their household groups indoors, and continue to apply the rule of six outside. Students living in Leamington and Kenilworth can continue to socialise with other households indoors and outdoors, but only with a maximum of six people.

The University’s highest priority continues to be the safety of staff, students and the local community. Our safety measures on campus include social distancing, face coverings, enhanced cleaning and test and trace, and remain in place and important for all members of our community.
