Update: Protests on campus

Wednesday 15 May

Warwick Stands With Palestine – a coalition of student and staff organisations – are currently demonstrating on campus.

Demonstrators are planning to hold a rally which will start at 11am today (Wednesday 15 May) in the Piazza and end outside Senate House.

To help maintain the safety and security of our campus community, the Community Safety Team will be in place, and will provide support if the march moves across campus. The Community Safety Team will be supported by SNSG who will be in a different uniform.

Universities are bastions of critical thinking and open dialogue, where free speech is vigorously protected. However, we also uphold standards of behaviour which all members of our university community must adhere to: These include racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and any form of abuse, incitement, or harassment which is targeted at an individual or group. These are never acceptable, and we encourage any incidents to be reported promptly via our Report and Support serviceLink opens in a new window.

Tuesday 14 May

Warwick Stands With Palestine – a coalition of student and staff organisations – has been occupying the Piazza since Thursday 25 April. On Monday 13 May, the encampment relocated to the lawns outside Senate House. The University is continuing to carefully monitor and manage this demonstration.

Senate House is home to the University’s Wellbeing Services, Careers Service, Student Information Centre and Immigration Service. Students can still access these services as usual.

We ask everyone in our community to treat each other with kindness and empathy.

We strongly encourage anyone who has a complaint or any concerns to contact Report and Support or our Wellbeing and Student Support services.
