Women's Cycle Tour comes through campus: 15 June

The 2018 Women’s Cycle Tour will again pass through the University of Warwick campus on Friday 15 June. This could cause some delays getting to and from campus so please read the information below if you have exams that day.

The cyclists will approach campus from Westwood Heath Road, travel up Gibbet Hill Road and head out on to Kenilworth Road in the morning. This year, the route for stage 3 will start in Atherstone and end in Leamington Spa. We expect the race to come through campus between 10.30 - 11.00am on Friday 15 June. Warwickshire County Council have provided estimated route timings on their website.

See the full route and find out more on the Women’s Tour website.

Watch the race

If you’re on campus on 15 June, enjoy the excitement of the race by watching it as it comes along Gibbet Hill Road in the morning. There was a great atmosphere along the road last year - we look forward to seeing you there!

Exams

There won't be any changes to the exam timetable due to the race, but please check travel times and arrangements if you’re coming to campus for an exam that day to make sure you’re not affected by any temporary closures or diversions. Bus companies will be providing more information on alternative routes nearer the time and we will share this information via this page.

Campus

With the race due to come through campus between 10:30am and 11:00am, there will be some delays for cars and public transport leaving campus at that time as the rolling road block will prevent traffic coming onto Gibbet Hill Road. Traffic will not be prevented from entering campus. Warwickshire County Council have provided estimated route timings on their website.

If you have visitors coming to campus or have an event planned on this day, please share this information with your relevant contacts so they can factor it into their travel plans for the day.

Local Area

The Parade in Leamington will be closed for most of the day with bus diversions in place. Please make sure you set off earlier than you would usually – there will be delays to all travel while the race is in progress as it will affect roads all over the local region. Bus companies will be providing more information on alternative routes nearer the time and we will share this information via this page.

Please do bear this in mind when you are planning your journey to and from campus on 15 June and allow plenty of time to get to campus.

There is also likely to be more disruption to roads around the Leamington area where the race will end and we will update information on this as it is confirmed.

More information on road closures will be posted to the Warwickshire County Council website.
