Warwickshire press launch of the Women’s Cycle tour

The Warwickshire stage of the Women’s Cycle Tour has been launched! The tour will travel through our region on 9 June 2017.

This is the second year the University has supported the Women’s Tour. By supporting the Tour, we are keen to raise awareness of women’s participation in sport across Warwickshire and help our community to be physically active and healthy on a daily basis as part of our ambition to be the most active University campus in the UK.

This year, the race will travel along Westwood Heath Road, up Gibbet Hill Road and onto Kenilworth Road. We are working closely with the race organisers and Warwickshire County Council (WCC) to manage the tour’s journey to ensure there is no disruption to examinations on this date, and to ensure that we are able to give staff and students as much notice as possible around local disruptions and activities. Further information will be available closer to the race date.

More about the tour

The Women’s Cycle Tour sees teams from around the world compete in a five day competition. Seventeen teams will be riding in the 2017 Women's Tour with all of the world's top 15 teams confirmed to be competing alongside British domestic teams WNT Pro Cycling and Drops.

Sponsored by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the Women's Tour takes place over five days between Wednesday 7 and Sunday 11 June 2017. It features four stages in the heart of England in Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire before entering the fifth and final stage on an iconic circuit in the centre of London.
