New Year's Eve celebration - 31 January

TigerMany people around the world will be celebrating the eve of the New Year on 31 January. We will set up various events for everyone, whether you have celebrated Lunar New Year before or not.

Join us for a chance to chat with other students about the different traditions with snacks and drinks, watch a live screening of the CCTV New Year Gala celebrations, play traditional board games, join Chinese calligraphy and create some traditional crafts to help welcome good luck for the new year.

We know this is an important celebration for many people, please do come along and join in!

Lunar New Year Wishing Tree - 2 February

wishing treeHave you thought about your wish list for this year? If you have, now is the time to write it down and share it with others. Write your wish on the paper, tie to the tangerine and throw it into the tree; if it hangs, the wish will come true. Come along and join in!

New Year Themed Zine-Making Workshop - 2 February

Come and join the Lunar New Year-themed zine-making workshop - where we will fill our little blank pages with illustrations of delicious celebratory food, seasonal plants and traditional rituals. While we are having fun cutting colouring, marking, glueing or printing to create our own version of a DIY magazine, we also get to share our own cultural experiences during this festival.

All materials will be provided for the workshop, come empty-handed and open-minded. There will also be festive snacks and refreshments to welcome you.

Online Calligraphy workshop - 7 Feb, 7-9pm

Learn the beauty and history of Chinese calligraphy and try hands-on practice if you have a Chinese brush pen and ink. Register and join this workshop sponsored by Warwick Institute of Engagement.

Online New Year Celebration Party - 8 Feb, 5-7pm

Students of Chinese bring into play their creativity to celebrate Lunar New Year - Chinese Year of the Tiger in a special way, facilitated by teaching staff. Songs, raps, poems, stories, games - come and be part of it!
