Your Warwick must-do bucket list

Your Warwick must-do bucket list!
It can be really tempting to just stay in bed and scroll on TikTok after a long day of lectures and seminars. But take it from a placement student who’s now spending a year away from university and misses it every single day - value every minute you spend here. Because one day, you’ll really, really miss it.
Your Warwick must-do bucket list!
You might not realise it now, but these uni years go by so fast. And when they do, chances are, you’ll wish you’d done a few more fun, spontaneous things while you had the chance - surrounded by friends and with so much happening around you.
Now, I know it’s not always easy to come up with those “must-do” things, especially when you tell yourself you want to experience Warwick life to the fullest. As a third-year student, I dare to say I’ve got a decent idea of what makes uni life feel more complete.
So, here’s my short 'must-do' Warwick bucket list - just a few simple but meaningful things I think every student should try before they graduate. There’s obviously way more you can do, but we’ve got to start somewhere! Copy this into your Notes app and start ticking things off:
"Because one day, when you’re away on a year abroad/placement or already graduated, you’ll look back and realise that these small, spontaneous moments were the ones that made your Warwick Uni experience truly special."
1. Study in the library with friends
Bring snacks, grab a drink, and spend the whole day (or night?) in the library together. It turns studying from something dull into something surprisingly fun - just make sure to actually get some work done…
2. Go on a campus nature walk
Living here you probably know this: Warwick’s campus is basically a green paradise - lakes, woodland trails, and more squirrels and rabbits than you can count. Take a walk around Lakeside, through the woods near Tocil, or fields around Cryfield Townhouses. It’s the perfect little break when you need to clear your head.
3. Try something new at Warwick Sport
You don’t have to be athletic to get involved. For me, it was rock climbing, but it could be anything - yoga, swimming, or even martial arts. Warwick Sport has so many beginner sessions that make it easy to try something completely new! And where else would you do it?
4. Watch a film at Warwick Student Cinema
That popcorn they make tastes so nice. Also, sometimes those are in actual lecture halls - isn't that kind of cool? They show new releases and cult classics for the smallest price!
5. Cook dinner together or host a potluck
Nothing brings people together like food. Try cooking dinner with your flatmates or, even better, organise a potluck - where everyone brings a dish from their home country. You’ll discover new flavours, learn about different cultures, and end the night with a very full stomach.
6. Join a society or attend a circle
There’s something for everyone - from sports to debating, from cultural groups to art societies. Going to your first session might feel awkward at first, but it’s one of the easiest ways to make friends and feel part of the community.
7. Say yes to that house party or hangout
Even when you’re tired or tempted to rot in bed - go. Some of the best uni memories come from nights you almost skipped.
8. Visit Birmingham for a quick city break
When you need a change of pace, Birmingham is just a short train ride away. Explore the Bullring, wander through the Christmas Market in wintertime, or do some shopping - there's way more choice than everywhere else!
9. Grab a coffee with that one friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with
We all have that friend we keep saying “we should meet soon!” to. Just text them now and set a date. It doesn’t have to be fancy - campus Curiositea, Pret, or Café Nero works just fine.
10. Explore Leamington Spa
My favourite place ever! Even doing my internship in London, I come back here just for this amazing feeling of a small, beautiful student town. Grab some food, walk through Jephson Gardens, and go on a night out in one of its clubs. You’ll see why everyone loves this place.
So this is my shortest Warwick bucket list - just a handful of things that have made my uni life a little brighter. There are, of course, so many more things you could add, but this list is a good place to start.
Because one day, when you’re away on a year abroad/placement or already graduated, you’ll look back and realise that these small, spontaneous moments were the ones that made your Warwick Uni experience truly special.
Till next time,
