For 2026 entry, our MSc Business Analytics has been reviewed and relaunched as MSc Business Analytics & Artificial Intelligence. You’ll learn how to gain insights from large data sets using Artificial Intelligence (AI), statistical methods, optimisation and machine learning – and apply them to business challenges. This course covers cutting-edge and industry standard analytical techniques, including visualisation (in Tableau), machine learning, statistics and optimisation. Gain a cross-disciplinary training in business models, quantitative methods and data science, and prepare for a future career in an ever-changing business world.
Ranked 3rd in the UK and 13th in the world in the QS University Rankings 2026 for MSc Business Analytics, the course features a broad range of theory and applications in analytics.
The course offers you the opportunity to gain in-depth theoretical and applied knowledge of business analytics, and to provide insights on how to analyse business problems and solve them using a variety of operational research, statistics and machine learning techniques.
You will also gain a cross-disciplinary training in business models, quantitative methods and data science by covering descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and be prepared for working in complex data-driven environments through building up quantitative consultancy skills and developing programming skills.
You will also be guided in optionally obtaining certification as Associate Certified Analytics Professional. This globally recognised certification is offered by the INFORMS (USA) and The OR Society (UK), and the required knowledge to pass the certification exam is closely aligned with the core content of this course.
You will cover a balance of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, involving visualisation (Tableau), forecasting and data mining techniques, and optimisation.
You will complete four core modules. Alongside the core content of the course, you will choose a specialism route; Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics; Artificial Intelligence; Management Analytics, or; Marketing Analytics and Technology. Your studies will be completed by either a Research Paper, Analytics Portfolio or the Business in Practice module.
The class size for this course is around 240 students.
Students will typically receive between 27 and 30 contact hours per module via a mixture of virtual and in-person support. Some modules are taught over the course of a 10 week term, whilst others are delivered in an intensive block of up to 10 days.
Over three terms you will complete four core modules, alongside four modules from one of our new specialisms: Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics; Artificial Intelligence; Management Analytics, or; Marketing Analytics and Technology.
Your studies will be completed by one of the following routes:
Assessment will vary between group presentations, peer assessments, individual assignments and examinations.
Your personalised timetable will be complete when you are registered for all modules, core and optional, and you have been allocated to your lectures, seminars and other small group classes. Your core modules will be registered for you, and you’ll be able to choose your optional modules when you join us.
There may be events taking place in the evenings. Classes may run up to 7pm and other events, such as careers presentations may take place later or on weekends. Occasionally, classes and exams may be held on weekends. We will notify you in advance if this is the case.
This is a full-time course, so there are no holidays as such. However, the two weeks covering Christmas and New Year are guaranteed to be free from lectures. There may also be weeks free over the Easter period (check with your programme team). Resit exams may take place outside of standard teaching periods.

The specialism focuses more on the quantitative elements of the analytics discipline and suit students seeking a more technical role.
Aligning with one of the most significant trends in the analytics space, the specialism would incorporate more computational elements and cover a wide range of AI and machine learning applications. In particular, this specialism would align to technology and retail/e-commerce roles which are both in our top five industry destinations already, as well as the awareness and interest in AI in business and organisations.
This specialism emphasises particular management domains (such as supply chain and finance) as well as modern quantitative techniques. Given this, we expect the specialism to meet the needs of many of the most frequent industry destinations of students such as financial / professional services and consulting.
The final specialism would be less quantitatively demanding than the other three, and would better prepare students for careers in retail/e-commerce or marketing (our fifth and sixth most common destinations), as well as roles in technology, in particular those related to Generative AI.
