Our campus is home to students and staff from many different backgrounds and from countries all over the world. It’s this inclusive and cosmopolitan atmosphere that gives Warwick its vibrancy and characteristic buzz.
If you’re a foodie…
From bite-size dim sum to Big Daddy baguettes, grab-and-go street food to high tea with all the trimmings, there’s a smorgasbord of culinary delights waiting for you at the food outlets dotted around campus.
Follow your nose to The Bread Oven or pick up a snack from the Red Rocket outdoor cafe. Treat yourself to heavenly cakes and crumpets from our vintage cafe Curiositea. Counting down to dinner? Go for Asian inspired cuisine at our lively Fusion restaurant, head to the Xananas bistro for TexMex night, or tuck into some hearty pub grub at The Dirty Duck.
Room for more?...
Every month during term time, the Piazza is packed with an array of stalls selling everything from Caribbean, Thai and Persian dishes to cupcakes, churros and speciality cheeses. If you’re keen to share the experience with fellow foodies, you’ll find them at the Good Food Society.
If you’re a culture vulture…
One of the UK’s largest multi-artform venues is right here on campus, bringing the best in theatre, comedy, dance and music to your door.
Plans to extend Warwick Arts Centre mean it’s going to be even bigger and better by 2020, with three new digital auditoria alongside two theatres, a concert hall and art gallery.
Is performing is your passion?
You can take centre stage with student-run societies such as Warwick University Drama Society and Codpiece Theatre. Or if you prefer to stay behind the scenes, how about joining the Tech Crew? Music maestros are also in their element with Symphony, Chamber and Chinese Orchestras, a 250-voice Chorus and Rock Gospel Choir, and a Brass Band and Big Band.
Warwick Fringe Festival stages a programme of outdoor performances, Band Soc hosts its annual Battle of the Bands, and we’re home to one of the biggest student arts festivals in the UK. There’s also Warwick Fused, which celebrates music from all over the world. Getting your culture fix while you’re on campus won’t be a problem.
If you’re sporty…
60 acres of pitches and a 400-metre Mondo running track. 40 ropelines at the Bear Rock climbing wall and a state-of-the-art tennis centre. A swimming pool, squash courts, three indoor sports halls, gym and aerobics studio.
Whether you’re into team sports in a big way or you get your kicks from breaking PBs, you’ll be blown away by our campus facilities. And because we know sporty types set the bar high, we’re investing a further £40m into sport at Warwick, including a new Sports and Wellness Centre that’s due to open in 2018.
Anyone for archery, dodgeball or skydiving?
With 65 sports clubs to choose from, you can mix and match old favorites like football, hockey and tennis with some new challenges.
Rock Up & Play sessions for sports such as touch rugby, badminton and cricket mean you can have fun and stay fit without committing to training sessions and matches.
But if you’re super keen with a strong competitive streak, many of our clubs take part in the BUCS inter-university leagues, while the Warwick Sport Scholarship Scheme offers financial support to athletes at the top of their game.
If you’re the outdoors type…
If you love nature and the great outdoors, our campus has countless hidden gems for you to discover.
Take a stroll around our tranquil lakes and feel the stresses of student life slip away. Visit Tocil Woods in May to marvel at the carpets of bluebells. Follow the footpath along Canley Brook and keep your eyes peeled for kingfishers and brown trout. It’s easy to escape to the country without setting foot off campus – just minutes from the Students’ Union you’ll find an oasis of green spaces and peaceful spots to relax and unwind.
When you feel like venturing further afield, pack a rucksack or pannier and explore the beautiful Warwickshire countryside with its canals, rivers and rolling hills. Keen to get out and about on a bike but don’t have your own? You can hire one from the university through a subscription or pay-as-you-go scheme.
If you’re a social butterfly…
Take your pick from more than 300 societies and meet up with like-minded students who share the same interests, whether you’re a keen photographer, you love to travel or you’re a Star Wars enthusiast.
Tempted to try something completely new? How about circus skills, Bhangra dancing or allotmenteering?
If you fancy a big night out, then head to The Terrace Bar or The Copper Rooms for one of their campus club nights. You can also catch live acoustic sessions at The Dirty Duck – or get up on stage yourself at a karaoke or open-mic night.
When you just want to chill, grab the popcorn and see a film with some friends. Warwick Arts Centre and our student cinema society show blockbusters, classics and cult movies from all over the world. There’s also a Big Screen at the Piazza where everyone gathers to watch major sports events, films and live theatre broadcasts.
