Studying Management with Foundation Year (BSc) encourages a wide range of relevant, highly transferable and sought-after skills.

These help to prepare you for the challenges you will face after university; everything from a career in a multinational corporation to starting and running your own business.

3b

This course is designed to provide you with access to our main Management or Management with Placement Year degree’s if challenging circumstances mean that you have not been able to meet the standard entry requirements.

We are looking for applicants who have the drive and motivation, and ultimately want to progress to a professionally-orientated qualification that is consistently ranked highly in major UK league tables. We will help you to develop valuable skills such as teamwork, presenting, time management, problem solving, decision making, and also build your confidence.

During the Foundation Year you will be part of a small community working closely together on group projects. The course also involves working with external organisations to give you a better understanding of how business works. You will complete a project in the third term working with an organisation to identify an issue or challenge.

If you successfully complete the Foundation Year, you will automatically join our direct entry students following the course structure for Management or Management with Placement Year. If you choose to study the 5-year course with the integrated placement year you will work in the UK or overseas. Previous students have completed placements with companies including Accenture, Adidas, EY, Gymshark, HSBC, L’Oréal, Toyota, Microsoft and The Walt Disney Company.

3c

Our Foundation Year prepares you for degree-level study at WBS and gives students the opportunity to build their knowledge about business, improve some key skills we have found to be important to success during the undergraduate degree, and spend a year getting used to the university environment.

The modules you will take will help build your maths and statistics skills, your organisational problem-solving skills, such as creativity, leadership and teamwork, and give you a chance to work on academic practices like research, critical thinking, and university level writing. They will also develop your knowledge on general areas of business, like marketing, operations management, accounting and finance, and help you conduct research to solve real organisational problems.

If you successfully complete the Foundation Year you will automatically progress to BSc Management and join our direct entry students. If you choose to study BSc Management (with Foundation Year) with Placement Year you will complete your work placement within your fourth year and return to WBS for your final year of studies.
