How does WIE work with people outside the University of Warwick?

The Warwick Institute of Engagement is a department of the University of Warwick. Our role is to support staff and students to engage with the public. We are often approached by people and organisations outside the university looking to collaborate with University of Warwick staff or students. On this webpage, we explain the ways we can help, and signpost you to other departments if we can't help.

I am looking for a member of the University of Warwick (e.g. a researcher) with expertise on a particular subject matter, to work together on a public engagement project or activity.

Please fill in this form. We will get in touch with you to find out more about what you're looking for and explore more options for putting you in touch with potential collaborators. Please note that it may take several weeks or a few months to find someone whose expertise aligns with your interests and we cannot guarantee that our search will be successful. Therefore, if you have a deadline in mind for a public event, project start date, or funding application, you should contact us as early as possible and include the date in your submission.

I want to apply to your Collaboration and Co-Production Fund.

Applications must be made jointly between you and the University of Warwick staff/student you are partnering with. You can find out more about the fund here. If you don't have a partner yet, we may be able to put you in touch with potential collaborators - please fill in this form. We will get get in touch to find out more about about what area of expertise you are interested in. Please note that it may take several weeks or a few months to find a potential partner, and we cannot guarantee that our search will be successful, so you might not be able to apply for funding within the current round.

I am looking for someone (e.g. an academic) to speak or run an activity about their research/expertise at my event.

If the event is free or low cost, then we might be able to share the opportunity with our network. (We cannot help with schools events – see below.) I want to promote my event to your Resonate audiences.

If you are running a free or very low-cost event that involves University of Warwick research or expertise, we might be able to share it with our audiences. The University of Warwick staff member or student you are working with should check the guidance and instructions on our Shared by Resonate webpage. (Please note the submission form can only be completed by University of Warwick staff or students.)

I want to tell you about my event as I think someone from the Warwick Institute of Engagement might want to attend it. I want to do a Resonate event with you.

As our programme is planned far in advance, we don't often have capacity to create bespoke events. However, you can let us know about your idea in case it fits with something that's already in our programme or could be a possibility for an event in future years. You can find out more about our events programme on the Resonate website. All our events are linked to University of Warwick research/expertise. To let us know what your idea is, please fill in this form and include an explanation of what research topic or expertise you think this could link with.

I want to offer my services to your events programme.

Most of the facilitators at our events are staff and students from the University of Warwick. Occasionally, we engage organisations to either collaborate with University of Warwick students/staff, or to help our attendees connect with the research/expertise at the event. If you wish to offer your services, please fill in this form.

I want to offer my services to your public engagement training programme.

Our public engagement training programme for staff and students is planned in advance, so in most cases we already have a trainer booked for each of the topics in the programme. However, we are happy to read about your services and keep you in mind for future years, particularly if you offer a topic we do not currently have in our programme. Please fill in this form and include a link to your website. If you don't have a website, please include a list of training topics and we'll get in touch with you to ask for more information if we need it.

I am looking for a space to use for a meeting or conference. I am looking for a speaker for my school. I am looking for sponsorship for my event. My business wants to collaborate with the university. I am looking for student volunteers. I am an employer hoping to recruit University of Warwick students.
