Public Engagement Masterclass: Engaging Events

Wednesday 28 October, 5pm - 7:30pm and Thursday 29 October, 1pm - 4pm - Creative Community Place, Library 2nd Floor

Please note that both sessions include the same content, so you will only need to attend one.

For the evening session a light buffet will be provided.

From creative ideas to practical planning suggestions this session helps turn ideas into reality.

Spark ideas and take your engagement in new directions with this interactive session. Discover how to create memorable and engaging experiences for the public. Packed with helpful tips and tools you will explore every aspect of event planning from generating ideas through to advertising. The session also covers the logistics of running a safe, welcoming and successful event. Ideal for any researchers planning to take part in a festival or plan public events.

Objectives

Following this workshop, you should be able to:

Understand how to plan an engaging experience or event based on your own research topic.
Know how to create a safe and inclusive space for events.
Know the key planning stages, milestones and deadlines associated with festival events.
Plan event-appropriate evaluation to aid in your reporting.

About the session lead

Working across dozens of institutions and subject areas he has improved the reach, profile and impact of research engagement in almost every academic discipline.

Last Minute Cancellations/No Shows

This session is subject to our training cancellation policy. If you can no longer attend you must give at least 7 days notice to cancel your place of else receive a strike on your record. Those with two strikes will be barred from future training and WIE Funding until the following academic year.
