Describe your current role and what attracted you to it.
I am a Creative Director, Consultant, Trilingual Professor, and Artist with 15 years' proven experience, working with companies such as L'Oréal, Heineken, and Machefert Group. My client portfolio includes The Aimes, Meliá, Aptar Group, Omnes Education, and L'Oréal. I specialise in 360° international marketing strategy, creative direction, team management, art and design, social media growth, events, and PR. I also teach and mentor at INSEEC, ESCE, Paris School of Luxury and My Digital School in Paris; at Crea Genève in Geneva; and in London.
What are the key skills you learnt at Warwick that have helped you with your career to date?
I have always wondered if I am dreaming, or if I am in someone else’s dream. As a result, I question the status quo on a daily basis and have done so ever since studying Philosophy with Psychology.
This academic foundation opened doors for me in ways that I am still discovering today, as I question processes in every area of my work: as a Consultant, Professor, and Artist. The meaning behind art, the use of symbols, and everything else that humans have employed throughout time to capture emotion all fascinate me. I am a Swiss Army Knife: born in London, grown in Paris, and with roots in Taiwan and Ireland. I wish to bring this cultural cocktail to present and future collaborations while learning from like-minded individuals, all supporting each other to move up the ladder towards wisdom, as illustrated by Diotima through Socrates in Plato’s Symposium.
Did you have a specific career path in mind when you chose to study at Warwick?
Not at all. Joining Heineken International for my first "real" job in International Marketing was an absolute dream, as I was sent travelling every six months to live and work in a new destination for two years!
What top tips do you have for Warwick graduates who would like to work in your sector?
My top tip would be - just go for it! Win or fail, you will always learn something. If you are open to interpreting every experience as a platform or "boost" to get you to where you need to go, then you are always a winner.
If I could do the last 15 years again since graduating in 2010, I would have:
- Listened more closely to my gut feeling about what I truly wanted to do and run in that direction without hesitation.
- Trusted my skills to get me to where I needed to go, without relying on huge brands or conglomerates to get me there.
- Fought harder to have a better boss when I was a junior and moved away from toxic personalities as soon as possible!
- Been clearer with my objectives and therefore able to move in a more precise way towards them.
- Delegated more to my teams when I moved up into a management role, in order to free up time for other tasks.
Good luck! Feel free to add me on LinkedIn and ask any questions you like.
