Why did you choose to study this course? What about it inspired you to enrol?

For me, the choice came down to two simple reasons. I firstly liked the ability to take modules in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics from day one, with the option to continue study in all three areas throughout my degree. On top of this, I liked the fact I was able to do so at a top university, where at the time other similar universities did not provide an equivalent opportunity.

What were your highlights of your course?

There were many highlights of my time at Warwick, however, they can all be summarised nicely as follows: there is no greater feeling than being in your chosen subject area and learning from THE academics in the field, who are also actively publishing big advancements in topic matters you're interested in. The insights they provided into solving and structuring both problems and solutions continues to help me as I progress through the world of work.

I would also like to take the space to acknowledge the highlights from Warwick outside of my course. Contributing to the running of sports clubs and the student union, seeing how changes you make influence those around you and make a positive impact on your community is something I will always look back on with a smile.

What have you been doing since graduating and how has studying this course supported you in achieving this?

Since graduating in July 2023, I have worked at British Airways as a Data Scientist within the Revenue Management department. My work is currently focussed on investigating the use of machine learning techniques to optimise revenue, as industry-wide changes to airline ticketing are scheduled to come into effect within the next couple of years. Outside of work, I have continued a passion that began during my time at Warwick, tutoring mathematics to those about to start at university.

Although both vary in nature, the mathematical rigour I developed at Warwick has taught me tools to help digest detailed mathematics, whilst also being able to communicate those concepts to industry stakeholders and students who may not understand the technical detail, and in some cases don't need to know!

What was your favourite thing about studying Computer Science at Warwick?

A community feel amongst a group of people from all over the world is not easy to achieve, but it comes easily to cohorts of students at Warwick. It may not be that you know everyone, but being at Warwick guarantees you'll find a community, however big or small, of friends and colleagues who are all invested in your success. I can safely say my community of friends and staff members provided support all the way through my academic journey, even when I didn't know I needed it.
