Sakshi Mittal: Associate at Goldman Sachs
Sakshi Mittal
BSc Computer Science, 2020
Why did you choose to study this course? What about it inspired you to enrol?
I have always been intrigued by logic and computers have been synonymous with logic for me. Studying computers would help me build the machines I have been fascinated by. It is like working with a brain only that you get to design and develop each logical bit.
What were your highlights of your course?
Programming for Computer Scientists with Steven was definitely a highlight. As a first-year student, writing code to solve a robot maze was exciting and the gamification of the coursework helped.
The Software Engineering module taught us the basics of industry computer engineering and has aligned the most with my day-to-day job.
The modules on Artificial Intelligence and Formal Languages were the ones I enjoyed the most.
What have you been doing since graduating and how has studying this course supported you in achieving this?
I graduated in 2020 and joined Goldman Sachs as a software developer. I have been with my current team for four years and have worked on different technologies and projects. My work's main focus is to build trading platforms for clients to interact with and invest via. The course helped me by creating a strong foundation for Java and web development which I have been able to extend further at my workplace. As a part of the course, I also became familiar with the industry options available as different companies would present at the career fairs.
What was your favourite thing about studying Computer Science at Warwick?
The campus was probably my favourite thing about being at Warwick. Specifically for Computer Science, the labs were a highlight. Being in the labs for seminar sessions followed by spending hours before submissions with my friends, the labs have seen it all.
