MEng Computer Science, 2020
Why did you choose to study this course? What about it inspired you to enrol?
The course combined my interests and skills in mathematics, technology and human-computer interaction, whilst having a breadth of modules available to choose from. With no particular roles I was aspiring towards, I wanted to have the foundational knowledge required to start a career in technology, the confidence to adapt, and the flexibility to take advantage of any opportunity (even those I couldn’t foresee).
What were your highlights of your course?
One of the highlights of my course was discovering my passion for product management and learning different aspects of it (although I wasn’t aware of how well-aligned my interests and skills would be to my current role at the time). This resulted from exciting projects, research opportunities and great lecturers who inspired me.
What have you been doing since graduating and how has studying this course supported you in achieving this?
During my graduate scheme in the financial industry, I had the opportunity to work in different roles in search of the best match for me. As part of the two-year scheme, I tried software engineering, DevOps engineering, data analytics & visualisation, and finally, product management, which is the career path I’m currently pursuing. The breadth of knowledge I gained at Warwick made it possible to explore various roles in a short amount of time, quickly integrate, upskill and contribute to cross-functional product teams.
What was your favourite thing about studying Computer Science at Warwick?
My favourite thing about studying Computer Science at Warwick was the cultural diversity, the opportunities to collaborate with colleagues on projects that simulate real-life scenarios (which I later encountered in my career), and working with industry leaders.
