Why did you choose Warwick?
During my Master’s degree in Brazil, I met Derek Hacon, a former Zeeman PhD student. He recommended that I go to Warwick.
What are you doing now?
I am a retired professor from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis-SC, Brazil.
What motivates you to do what you do?
The paths of life.
How has your time at Warwick influenced what you do now?
I took my PhD there, so Warwick had a huge influence on me!
What is your favourite memory?
So many… I’ll pick one. On a winter day, I was walking from the Maths Institute down to the Rootes Building when a swan flew very close over my head. I was walking by Tocil Wood. At that time, the Maths Institute building was located where the Medical Sciences area is today.
Best thing about the Warwick community?
It had a cheerful, relaxed, and enlightening atmosphere.
Favourite place on campus?
Rootes and the Sports Centre.
