Warwick love story: Diane and Jake

Diane and Jake Turner

Diane and Jake's wedding

BSc Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry, 1997; MSc Instrumental and Analytical Methods in Biological and Environmental Chemistry, 1999 and BSc (Hons) Maths, 1995; MSc Computer Science, 1996

I met my husband Jake Turner when I joined the Warwick fencing club in the first week of my first term at Warwick and a few months later we chatted on the bus on the way to a competition.

We knew each other from my first two years at Warwick, before he finished his studies and left to travel for a year. He returned at the end of the year, but I had already left to go travelling.

It wasn't until four years later, six years after we first met, that we finally got together in Cambridge, where I had recently moved to after finishing my MSc.

Within a month we had decided to buy a house together– partly brought about by the petrol crisis –so he ended up moving in with me very quickly. We were married in July 2002.
