What were you doing before your studies at Warwick?
I was working with the Federal Institute of Industrial Research here in Nigeria as a graduate analytical chemist.
Why did you choose to study at Warwick? What were your first impressions?
I chose to study at Warwick because I desired to acquire relevant technical and research skills through adequate exposure to a broad range of analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, microfluidics and sensors (which Warwick has renowned expertise in). Also, Warwick has a record of high standards of teaching by highly experienced tutors with world-class facilities and I wanted to benefit immensely from this. Arriving at Warwick, I knew I was at the right place and that my desires would be met.
What was your favourite module?
CH911: Chromatography and Separation Science. This module exposed me to the rudiment of chromatography with both industrial and academic perspectives with extensive experimental hands-on experience.
What was the stand out facility for you?
I did appreciate all the facilities most importantly NMR and MS due to their versatility, accessibility, and unique strengths in obtaining rich structural information.
What was your favouite memory from your time at Warwick?
The [Welcome Week] when we had team exercises and a whole lot of fun activities.
What are you doing now? How has your experience at Warwick helped?
I have been engaging in various managerial upskill training to enhance my managerial skills. Also, I have been teaching college students chemistry courses on a part-time. The various skills (both technical and soft skills) developed during the course of my degree has made me more employable and resourceful.
What would you say to a prospective student?
Warwick Chemistry is the best choice when considering an institution that can provide both theoretical and practical knowledge of frontier techniques in analytical science and cutting-edge instrumentation.
