James Povey

MPhys (2011-2015)

Role: HV Battery Structure / Integration Engineer (Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd)

As an automotive project engineer, I frequently rely on the strong logical and problem solving techniques that I learned during my physics degree at Warwick. Since graduation I have worked at numerous automotive companies designing new battery electric vehicles, running high-level crash simulations and ultimately delivering these products to market. Some of the physics I learned at university such as mechanics and material science has been directly applicable, however it has been the transferrable skills I learned during my degree that have proved the most useful and appealing to employers. For example, my analytical thinking as well as my ability to quickly learn new concepts and methodologies have enabled me to approach complex real-world challenges with confidence. I have no doubt that my physics degree has been an invaluable asset in contributing to success in my field of work.
