Trenessh Sivakumaar - Actuarial Analyst (AoN)

Trenessh Sivakumaar

MMathsPhys (2018-2022)

Role: Actuarial Analyst (AoN)

During my time at Warwick, I grew and matured from an ambitious student to a professional young adult eager to enter the world of work. Juggling multiple modules with differing assignment deadlines allowed me to practice organising my time and workload while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

The variety of societies and talent on campus provided further opportunities for me to try new things and make my university experience truly exciting. Stemming from this, I personally found the balance between mathematics and physics in my joint honours course to be optimally designed, with the added flexibility of choosing optional modules which can even be from other departments. Being able to take actuarial subjects from the statistics department throughout my years at Warwick gave me vital exposure to the field I was considering pursuing, and allowed me to confirm that I would enjoy working in that industry.

Furthermore, the level of academic rigor on my course meant that it was juggling a full-time job with thevolumeof content in the actuarial exams I went on to study that I found challenging - not the complexity of the mathematical exams themselves. As a result, I felt that my time at Warwick coupled with the prestigious University reputation yielded a significant advantage in my job applications and performance going forward.
