Quickfire Questions: Beth Holmes

Beth has completed three degrees with Warwick and is now a Senior Lecturer and an education consultant

Why did you choose Warwick?

I liked the University when I was choosing where to study for my PGCE. I felt welcome and part of the community straight away.

What are you doing now?

I am a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the University of Derby, as well as being Founder of Confidence Education (my own education consultancy and specialist tutoring business).

What motivates you to do what you do? 

Making positive change, supporting the development of meaningful and impactful education, and building learners' confidence so they can achieve their potential.

How has your time at Warwick influenced what you do now?

I completed my PGCE, MA in Educational Leadership and Management, and my EdD at Warwick, so it has been pivotal in my research interests, career progression, and employment choices.

Favourite memory? 

I enjoyed the discussions that took place in the Advanced Research Methods module of my EdD. I met people from all over the world with different perspectives about education, so exchanging ideas in this environment was stimulating and engaging.

Best thing about the Warwick community?

Meeting people from all over the world and different backgrounds. It has helped me to develop my own educational philosophy, which impacts my work on a daily basis.

Favourite place on campus?

Warwick Arts Centre.
